On the morning of December 23, Nguyen Hong Linh, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Semiconductor Circuit Practice Laboratory at Lac Hong University (LHU).
Also in attendance were Huynh Thanh Binh, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Inspection Committee; Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and Vien Hong Tien, Chief of the Office of the Provincial Party Committee.
In Dong Nai, LHU is the first institution to develop training programmes in the semiconductor circuit field. According to LHU’s leadership, the university has prioritised this field and established it as a strategic mission for the institution.
To date, LHU has developed interdisciplinary training programmes, introduced the specialised programme of Semiconductor Technology Engineering, and invested in the development of its management team and teaching staff in this field. The university has also invested in infrastructure, including the construction of the Semiconductor Circuit Practice Laboratory.
To date, the university has invested over 1 billion VND in enhancing the quality of training personnel in the semiconductor field. Simultaneously, the university has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Department of State, seeking funding worth 1.5 million USD for equipment upgrades and workforce development.
In the latter half of 2024, LHU acquired the HAPS-100 kit from Synopsys. This high-performance hardware simulation platform is designed to develop, test, and verify designs prior to production. LHU is the first institution in Vietnam to invest in this modern hardware for training and practice in semiconductor circuit design, with a total cost of nearly 2.3 billion VND.
In addition to the advanced hardware, the university has also invested in professional circuit design software and analog design tools integrated with the hardware, valued at up to 3 billion VND. Furthermore, the practice laboratory is equipped with 64 computers, costing a total of 1.4 billion VND. Altogether, the Semiconductor Circuit Practice Laboratory has a total investment value exceeding 6.7 billion VND.
Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, highly praised the university’s proactive approach, its ability to capture industry trends, and its determination in implementing training initiatives in semiconductor circuits.
The Vice Chairwoman remarked that the inauguration of the Semiconductor Circuit Practice Laboratory is the result of the collaboration, commitment, and efforts of the university and its stakeholders. With its well-prepared training programmes, skilled workforce, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong partnerships, Lac Hong University is poised to become a leading institution in semiconductor circuit training in Dong Nai province.
Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, noted that Vietnam has become a destination of choice for enterprises in the semiconductor sector. For Dong Nai province to advance in this field, there must be simultaneous efforts to train human resources and attract businesses to invest locally.
The Secretary commended Lac Hong University for launching the laboratory and training high-quality personnel for the semiconductor industry. He also expressed hope that partners will continue to support Lac Hong University and other institutions in the province to enhance workforce development in general and in the semiconductor sector specifically.
