In the era of globalisation, acquiring new foreign languages provides students with a competitive advantage and broadens their career prospects. Today, a growing number of high school students are shifting their focus toward learning new languages. Among the most popular choices are Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, which have been capturing the attention of many young learners.
Under the direction of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province, on the morning of December 14, 2024, Lac Hong University (LHU) proudly co-organised, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training (the primary organiser), the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association, and other relevant agencies and local authorities, the provincial-level conference titled “Solutions for Enhancing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Language Education and Career Opportunities for the Youth of Dong Nai Province in the New Era.” The conference took place at the Dong Nai Radio and Television Station.
The conference was graced by the presence of Mr. Nguyen Son Hung, Provincial Party Committee Member and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Đồng Nai Province; representatives of the Vietnam–China, Vietnam–Japan, and Vietnam–Korea Friendship Associations in Dong Nai; and leaders from various provincial departments. Esteemed speakers in education, language studies, and career guidance were also present, alongside executives from universities, colleges, continuing education centres, and high schools across the province. Parents, students, and undergraduates also participated in the event.
Opportunities and Challenges for Youth in the New Era
The conference aimed to provide a platform for researchers, scholars, administrators, and businesses to discuss and share ideas on employment opportunities for the youth of Dong Nai in today’s rapidly changing world. The event also sought to help students and young people in the province better understand and anticipate the demand for human resources proficient in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean in this new phase of development.
During the conference, Mr. Tran Xuan Tiep, Deputy Head of the Division for General and Continuing Education under the Department of Education and Training, delivered a keynote address titled “Solutions for Enhancing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Language Education in General and Continuing Education Institutions to Improve Workforce Training Efficiency.” Following this, Associate Professor Dr Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector of Lạc Hồng University, presented his insights on “The Current Status and Solutions for Strengthening Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Language Education for the Youth in Đồng Nai Province.” Meanwhile, Mr. Nong Van Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, gave a speech titled “Employment Opportunities for Đồng Nai’s Youth in the New Era,” focusing on industries requiring foreign language skills.
Equipping youth with essential language Skills in a globalised world
In the context of rapid globalisation, equipping young people with proficiency in foreign languages such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean has become an urgent requirement. Mastery of these languages is not only a critical factor in expanding career opportunities but also a cornerstone for advancing economic, cultural, and technological development in the new era.
