Lac Hong University (LHU) was honored with the title “Outstanding University in Building the Startup Ecosystem” at the 2023 National Startup Project Development Program held in Hanoi on 21 December 2023.
At the forum, PhD. Nguyen Van Tan – Lac Hong University shared that the Southeast region of Vietnam has more advantages than other regions in startup activities. In provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and especially Ho Chi Minh City, residents’ daily engagement with work and business helps accelerate community involvement in entrepreneurship.
He noted that in 2015, many graduates faced difficulties finding employment, prompting theUniversity to improve the environment for its students, which eventually led to adopting startup methodologies. Since 2016, after accessing the startup program of Business Forum Magazine, the University has built and promoted startup activities based on that model up to the present.

PhD. Nguyen Van Tan – Lac Hong University
With programs adopted from national startup initiatives and regional startup councils, we have applied them to startup activities in the Southeast region of Vietnam, organizing numerous training courses for provinces and cities in the region. From this, the startup community has been multiplied and expanded.
Competitions, training activities, and related initiatives require the participation of experts. With the encouragement of the University and provincial- and city-level units, to date the entrepreneurial spirit has spread widely across the entire region and has been embraced by both the community and businesses. The Southeast regional community has truly benefited from the National Startup Program that Business Forum Magazine has been and continues to implement.
Sharing the experience of Lac Hong University, PhD. Nguyen Van Tan stated that after accessing the program, the University regularly organizes startup activities directly on campus.
To further promote startup activities within the University, strong and decisive engagement from the University is required. In addition to enhancing knowledge, it is necessary to have policies to support students during their participation in startup activities, as well as mechanisms to support projects that win awards.
Helping students develop ideas and participate in competitions also builds their confidence in the entrepreneurial environment. Along with this, at Lac Hong University, we have implemented a compulsory entrepreneurship course for students before graduation. I believe that this will serve as a driving force to further spread national startup activities.

Three universities representing the Northern, Central, and Southern regions—Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Dalat University, and Lac Hong University—received the certification of the title “University Building the Startup Ecosystem in 2023.”
