LHU requests the Provincial Party Committee to support manpower training for the aviation industry

That is the key content Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh - Vice Rector of LHU presented at the Conference on manpower training for Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai held on March 13, 2024, at the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee.

A overview of the Conference

The Conference was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Tan Duc - Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Son Hung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Long Thanh International Airport will need 13.769 workers

According to the Provincial People's Committee, many years ago, Dong Nai set training personnel for Long Thanh airport as an urgent task. In 2020, Dong Nai proactively coordinated with the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to learn about the labor demand serving Long Thanh airport, and was informed that the estimated number is 13,769 workers. Among them, 473 will be leaders and managers, 12,686 in charge of professional expertise, direct production and business and among others. The labor demand focuses on occupations: airport terminal equipment operators, aeronautical engineering; equipment repair and maintenance; airport operators, petroleum management, security management, technicians, electricity, air transport, finance and accounting, information technology... Among these, many industries are strengths of LHU such as electrical engineering technology, logistics, finance and accounting, information technology...

Leader of the Southern Airports Authority exchanging information and orientations for aviation human resources training

As the first multi-disciplinary, multi-level university in Dong Nai, LHU has always been a leading unit in providing high-quality personnel for the locality and nearby areas for the past 27 years. Although this is LHU's strength, the specificity of the aviation industry as well as the legal basis of state regulations on standards and professional qualifications will require very highly-skilled employees. Therefore, not only LHU but also other schools must have a methodical plan in training or joint training for this field.

LHU cooperates with Boeing Corporation to train human resources for the aviation sector

Addressing the Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh said "LHU is a strategic partner of Arizona State University (ASU). Over the years, ASU has supported LHU with many big programs, impossibly mentioning the enhancement of teachers' competencies for LHU. With the support of ASU (through the BUILD-IT project), LHU has 10 programs meeting AUN-QA standards and 2 programs meeting ABET standards. ASU is also supporting the construction of an international standard training center worth 800 billion VND located in Buu Long ward, scheduled to be completed in late 2025. In addition, ASU is assisting in the semiconductor IC human resources training. Many US diplomatic delegations have visited and worked with LHU. Many businesses in this industry are negotiating to sponsor devices and equipment, serving the establishment of a Semiconductor IC Center in Dong Nai.”

Mr. Quynh especially emphasized "ASU is also a bridge helping LHU work with Boeing Corporation to train workforce for the aviation industry. LHU desires the support from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee so that the cooperation with Boeing Corporation can achieve faster progress in the future".

Training workers to man Long Thanh International Airport is set as an urgent task today, and is directed by the provincial leaders. Through the Conference, many solutions and proposals have been sent to leaders of the Provincial People's Committee. Along with the efforts in training and facilities preparation, the connection of ASU and especially the support from the local leaders, LHU will soon launch training majors to serve the aviation sector.

Here, representatives of 15 colleges, intermediate schools, 5 universities, leaders of departments and agencies in Dong Nai province, leaders of Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Cam My districts... jointly shared the advantages and disadvantages of issues related to the Conference. Previously, a representative of the Southern Airports Authority introduced information, exchanged directions for human resources training, and preparations for Long Thanh International Airport's operation.
